How to Choose a Breville Centrifugal Juicer

For anyone who has done some research into juicing appliances, you will already know that there are a number of different styles of machines on the market today. These include masticating, centrifugal and citrus juicers, among others. You can find a number of reliable juicer reviews discussing some of these devices. However, today I want to talk in detail about just one kind – Centrifugal Juicers.

The beauty of these units is their ease of use and speed. Many people start out with this kind of juicer because they are perhaps the easiest kind to understand how to use. It is really just a case of quickly assembling the juicer, feeding in some fruits and vegetables, drinking the juice and then cleaning the machine to get it ready to be used again.

Looking at the operation of centrifugal juicing appliances, it is easy to understand where the name comes from – they make use of centrifugal force to spin the liquid out of the fruits and vegetables. The produce is fed into the machine; torn up into tiny pieces of pulp; thrown against the side of the filter basket; and separated into dry pulp (waste) and liquid (juice).

What’s interesting is that there are lots of different brands and even within each brand, there are many different models. Some of the most popular brands these days are Breville, Hamilton Beach and Omega. Some of these units cost less than $100 while if you choose stainless steel unit, you’ll be paying round about $300.

So if you want to get into juicing, you may very well be somewhat confused by the sheer volume of machines that you can choose from. Hopefully I’ll be able to help you to see that there is not all that much that you really have to worry about. One of the best tips I have is to read through customer reviews on shopping sites such as Amazon. The reason for this is that when one person tells you a specific juicer is good, that’s a nice recommendation. But when there are 100s of people saying how good a certain product is, the you know it is going to be a good purchase.

In my own experience, I am a big fan of Breville machines. This company is actually from Australia but now controls a decent size of the U.S. market. What I like about this company is that they have a juicer for any budget. This is really one of the best ways to work out which machine to purchase: decide how much you are willing to spend.

Once you know your budget, it is then a simple matter of finding the best juicer for your money. Breville have three important price points <$100; <$200; and <$300. These correspond to three of their juicers, the BJE200XL, the BJE510XL and the 800JEXL.

In effect, these juicers are pretty much the same machine but the more you spend, the fancier the juicer becomes. That said, they all perform the same operation – they make juice. As you can see, juicing does not have to be expensive. In many ways, starting off with a cheaper machine is a good idea. Then if you find that you enjoy the juicing lifestyle, you can easily upgrade to a fancier model at a later date.
